Pharmacist Assistant – Post Basic Qualified (Roodepoort)

About the role

Dis-Chem is looking for a Post Basic Qualified Pharmacist Assistant to join its Roodepoort store. The role focuses on dispensing medications, supporting the pharmacist, and ensuring the safe and effective use of prescription medicines in a busy retail pharmacy environment.

Key responsibilities

• Dispense Schedule 1‑5 medicines under direct pharmacist supervision.
• Assist with compounding, manipulation and preparation of sterile and non‑sterile medicines.
• Re‑package medicines and manage stock control for all scheduled substances.
• Order medicines and scheduled substances according to authorised instructions.
• Read and prepare prescriptions, label and supply medicines in appropriate containers.
• Provide patients with clear instructions on medication use and promote health education.

Required profile

• Grade 12 / Matric qualification.
• Post Basic Pharmacist Assistant qualification.
• Registered with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC).
• Willingness to work retail hours.
• Advantageous: knowledge of retail/FMCG operations, additional language proficiency, experience with SAP, E‑Scripting and Unisolve.
