Medical Receptionist – Front Office (Roodepoort)

About the role

The practice is a modern occupational health clinic in Constantia Kloof, Johannesburg, offering pre‑employment and fitness‑for‑duty assessments. We are looking for a professional, dependable Medical Receptionist to be the first point of contact for patients and to ensure smooth front‑office operations.

Key responsibilities

• Welcome patients, manage the reception area and handle walk‑in enquiries.
• Process cash and card payments, issue receipts and explain statements.
• Manage telephone and online bookings using the practice management system.
• Coordinate patient flow, register patients and maintain accurate electronic and physical records.
• Prepare patient files, ensure pre‑appointment requirements are met, and liaise with radiology and laboratory couriers.
• Assist with scheduling occupational health assessments and related testing.
• Maintain a tidy, professional reception environment and perform general administrative duties.

Required profile

• Matric / Grade 12 qualification.
• Minimum 2 years experience in a medical or allied‑health reception role.
• Fluent in English; additional South African languages are a plus.
• Ability to work independently, handle cash responsibly and stay calm under pressure.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel.
• Experience with a medical practice management or booking system (advantageous).
• Familiarity with electronic health records (advantageous).
