Deputy Responsible Pharmacist – Warehouse & QA

About the role

A leading pharmaceutical company is seeking a Deputy Responsible Pharmacist for its warehouse distribution operation. The role combines quality assurance, quality management system oversight, batch release and auditing responsibilities.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with national regulatory requirements (Act 101 of 1965, Pharmacy Act 53 of 1973, SAHPRA, cGDP/GWP).
• Establish and maintain an effective quality management system supporting the SAHPRA licence.
• Develop, review, approve and implement SOPs.
• Review and approve validation protocols and reports.
• Lead quality review meetings with the Responsible Pharmacist and Managing Director.
• Perform product release based on applicant release and manage deviations, non‑conformances and CAPA.
• Oversee audits, prepare for them and close out any findings.
• Manage S5 & S6 stock, section 21 items and dedicated storage areas (quarantine, cold store, schedule stores).
• Handle reverse logistics, pharmacovigilance reporting and recall management.
• Act as deputy to the Responsible Pharmacist, performing all RP duties when required.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in pharmacy (BPharm).
• Active membership with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC).
• 2–3 years experience as a pharmacist or deputy pharmacist.
• Experience in pharmaceutical distribution/wholesale environment (advantage).
• Experience with Quality Management Systems (advantage).
• Familiarity with Oracle R12 (advantage).
