Clinical Engineer – Medical Equipment Specialist

About the role

The Clinical Engineer ensures that all medical equipment used in patient care is safe, reliable and performs optimally. Working in a hospital environment in Roodepoort, you will collaborate with clinicians, biomedical technicians and equipment vendors to maintain, repair and integrate medical technologies.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine inspections, testing and preventive maintenance on a wide range of medical devices, documenting all activities and maintaining service records.
• Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions, coordinate repairs with manufacturers and manage service level agreements and contracts.
• Evaluate new technologies, support their integration into clinical workflows and ensure interoperability with electronic health records and other health‑information systems.
• Implement quality‑control measures, conduct risk assessments and report any safety or performance deviations.
• Provide technical assistance and training to clinical staff, developing competency in equipment use and safety protocols.
• Maintain effective communication with internal departments, external vendors and regulatory agencies.

Required profile

• Proven experience in maintenance and repair of medical equipment.
• Knowledge of regulatory standards governing medical devices.
• Ability to work closely with clinical teams, vendors and support services.
