Payroll Officer

About the role

We are seeking an experienced and detail‑oriented Payroll Officer to manage key payroll and HR administration functions. The role involves ensuring accurate, timely payroll processing, maintaining employee records, and supporting leave and movement administration within strict deadlines.

Key responsibilities

• Capture weekly leave transactions from SAGE HR onto VIP and perform daily checks on leave exclusions.
• Process signed AODs, monitor deductions, and ensure payroll changes are captured by monthly cut‑off dates.
• Assist with monthly payroll runs from the 25th, distribute payslips, and act as a helpdesk for payroll queries.
• Load new employee details and terminations onto SAGE HR and VIP, maintaining accurate records.
• Manage employee benefits enrolment, monthly reconciliations, and liaise with service providers for support services.
• Support payroll compliance by preparing EMP201, UIF submissions, bank files, and 12‑month Skills Development reports.

Required profile

• Grade 12 / Matric, with a relevant qualification in Payroll, HR, Finance or related field (advantageous).
• 3–5 years of payroll administration experience, preferably in a high‑volume environment.
• Strong experience with SAGE HR, VIP or similar HR/payroll systems.
• Good Microsoft Excel skills, including report generation and reconciliations.
