IR Manager

About the role

Our client, a leading distributor of FMCG products, is seeking an IR Manager to develop and manage the organisation’s industrial and employee relations strategy. The role provides strategic and operational leadership on labour relations, employment equity and B‑BBEE, based in Johannesburg East reporting to the CEO.

Key responsibilities

• Manage all industrial relations communication and dealings with unions, including hearings and staff discipline.
• Act as CCMA representative and provide guidance to senior management on labour law updates and compliance.
• Produce monthly reports on disciplinary cases and oversee employment equity submissions and quarterly EE meetings.
• Own the B‑BBEE process, manage service providers and guide management on BEE initiatives to achieve required levels.
• Handle workmen’s compensation forms and coordinate payment communication with the finance department.

Required profile

• Degree in HR or Industrial Relations.
• Minimum 5 years IR management experience in a unionised environment.
• Experience leading Employment Equity and B‑BBEE initiatives.
• Strong negotiation, verbal and written communication skills.
• Analytical mindset, detail‑oriented and deadline‑driven.
