Payroll Administrator – Half-day

About the role

DataFin IT Recruitment is seeking a detail‑oriented Payroll Administrator to manage the full payroll function for a manufacturing and distribution client in Cape Town. This half‑day, onsite position requires accurate, timely payroll processing and strict compliance with South African payroll legislation.

Key responsibilities

• Process monthly payroll, including salaries, overtime, allowances, deductions, benefits and leave.
• Handle casual employee wages and timesheets.
• Prepare payrolls for management review and resolve queries.
• Submit EMP201 returns, EMP501 reconciliations, COIDA returns and ensure PAYE, UIF, SDL and other statutory deductions are calculated correctly.
• Maintain leave records, employee contracts and payroll documentation.
• Perform payroll reconciliations, generate reports for budgeting, audits and B‑BBEE reporting.
• Utilise Sage Pastel Payroll, ensure data integrity and identify process improvements.
• Coordinate with logistics suppliers and external service providers as needed.

Required profile

• Experienced payroll professional with strong attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently, meet strict deadlines and maintain confidentiality.
• Good knowledge of South African payroll legislation, BCEA, PAYE, UIF, SDL and COIDA.
• Proficient in using Sage Pastel Payroll.
