NICU Unit Manager

About the role

The Unit Manager is accountable for coordinating capacity building, mentoring, coaching, training and development within the NICU unit. The role also involves monitoring and ensuring that quality nursing care and service delivery are implemented and practiced within a multi-disciplinary team.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure the unit provides safe, cost-effective quality patient care in line with the hospital group's clinical governance strategy and evidence-based practice
• Evaluate the patient journey through patient experience and stakeholder contributions
• Evaluate and monitor nursing quality indicators and clinical outcomes
• Communicate effectively with patients about their care
• Promote the health and wellbeing of patients and employees
• Ensure infection prevention and international standard precautions are followed
• Implement group quality initiatives
• Liaise with public liability on incidents of potential risk to the business

Required profile

• Registered nurse registered with the South African Nursing Council
• NICU trained
• Compliance with the SANC code for a Registered Nurse and applicable healthcare legislation
• At least 5 years' experience in NICU
• Computer literacy is an advantage
