Mechanical Engineer – Aluminium Production

About the role

The Mechanical Engineer will join the local engineering team of Fives Services Mzansi, supporting the Southern African aluminium industry. The role involves delivering high‑performance solutions across the equipment lifecycle – from design and installation to maintenance and optimisation – while ensuring alignment with global engineering standards.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and maintain Bills of Materials (BOM) in SAP and create/ update Fives item codes.
• Extract and analyse technical data from SAP and other internal systems.
• Provide clarification on BOMs to other departments as required.
• Produce detailed 2D and 3D CAD drawings and models using AutoCAD, Autodesk Inventor and SolidWorks.
• Perform mechanical design calculations and ensure compliance with international and local standards.
• Support production and project activities with engineering expertise.
• Act as the primary interface between the South African site and the Fives group head office in France, facilitating data exchange and technology integration.

Required profile

• Technical background in mechanical engineering, preferably with experience in aluminium production equipment.
• Strong ability to collaborate with international teams and adhere to global engineering practices.
