Mechanical Design Engineer – Manufacturing

About the role

Our client, a well‑established engineering and manufacturing company specializing in liquid filling and packaging solutions, is looking for a dynamic Mechanical Design Engineer to join its technical team. The role offers exposure to both local and international projects within a specialised machine design environment.

Key responsibilities

• Compile assemblies, detailed manufacturing drawings and technical documentation in line with recognised standards.
• Develop part specifications, Bills of Materials (BOMs), production orders and machine manuals.
• Produce efficient mechanical designs that balance simplicity, feasibility, cost‑effectiveness and accuracy.
• Prepare layout drawings for customer manufacturing and production areas and draft Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).
• Implement approved Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs), manage drawing revisions and keep documentation current.
• Provide technical support during manufacturing and assist technicians with on‑site requirements.

Required profile

• Matric Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent (non‑negotiable).
• At least 3 years of experience in machine design and manufacturing.
• Minimum 2 years of practical CAD experience.
• Willingness and ability to travel nationally and internationally.

Required skills

• Proficiency in 2D CAD.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD and mechanical machine design.
• Computer literacy with MS Word and MS Excel.
