Manager, Labour Relations

About the role

The Manager, Labour Relations leads the development and execution of labour relations strategy across our manufacturing plants. This senior position is responsible for fostering positive relationships with employees, unions and management while ensuring compliance with collective agreements and labour legislation.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement and maintain labour relations policies, processes and governance frameworks.
• Provide expert guidance on collective agreements, grievance handling, disciplinary actions and dispute resolution.
• Represent the business in CCMA and other external labour relations proceedings.
• Monitor union dynamics, assess risks and devise proactive engagement plans.
• Support workforce planning, restructuring, wage mandate development and benefits administration.
• Produce labour metrics, analytics and reports for strategic decision‑making.
• Ensure statutory compliance reporting to government agencies and global labour affairs teams.
• Lead, coach and develop the internal labour relations team while maintaining confidentiality.

Required profile

• Degree in Labour Relations, Human Resources, Law (LLB) or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in labour relations within a manufacturing environment.
• Strong knowledge of South African labour legislation and collective bargaining.
• Proven ability to manage complex employee‑union issues and external proceedings.
