Manager: Demand and Acquisition

About the role

The Manager: Demand and Acquisition will lead the planning, sourcing and procurement of goods and services for the organisation. This senior position reports to senior management and ensures compliance with public‑sector procurement legislation while delivering cost‑effective solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Compile budgets and develop demand management plans for goods and services.
• Advise end‑users on clear tender specifications and verify procurement requirements against budgets.
• Design and implement sourcing strategies, including bid specification committees and panel creation.
• Manage quotation and bidding processes, ensuring adherence to PFMA, Treasury Regulations and PPPFA.
• Oversee publication of bids, conduct briefing sessions, evaluate proposals and prepare evaluation reports.
• Implement risk registers, SOPs, delegation of authority and internal controls.
• Monitor supplier performance, conduct quality control and manage contract administration.

Required profile

• NQF Level 7 qualification in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Public Finance, Financial Management or equivalent.
• 3‑5 years experience in supply chain, demand or acquisition management, with at least 3 years in a supervisory role.
• Strong knowledge of public‑sector procurement legislation (PFMA, Treasury Regulations, PPPFA).
• Demonstrated strategic thinking, leadership and stakeholder management abilities.
