Maintenance Assistant

About the role

Chainlink SA is looking for a Mechanical Maintenance Assistant to support plant reliability and minimise downtime. Reporting to the Mechanical Maintenance Foreman, you will work closely with artisans, production leaders and the stores team to keep equipment running smoothly.

Key responsibilities

• Lubricate all plant machinery, including paper machines, gearboxes, motors, compressors, forklifts and generators.
• Maintain and update the lubrication program and system.
• Assist artisans with breakdown repairs and planned maintenance tasks.
• Report plant risks or abnormal equipment behaviour such as unusual motor noise.
• Monitor compressed air plants and perform daily housekeeping.
• Follow the weekly maintenance plan and any instructions from the foreman.

Required profile

• Matric or equivalent qualification.
• Proactive attitude with a focus on safety and quality.
• Ability to communicate effectively with maintenance, production and engineering teams.
• Willingness to support lubrication programmes and 5S housekeeping standards.
