Engineering Manager – Coal Processing & Mining

About the role

The Engineering Manager will lead all engineering activities for Nelspruit‑based mining and coal processing operations. The role combines plant engineering, asset reliability, safety compliance and people leadership to ensure efficient, safe and cost‑effective production.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage engineering across the mining fleet, processing plant and supporting infrastructure.
• Ensure statutory compliance with the Mine Health and Safety Act and other engineering governance requirements.
• Oversee asset reliability, availability and performance for both fixed and mobile equipment.
• Provide engineering oversight for coal beneficiation and washing plant operations.
• Drive preventative, predictive and reliability‑centred maintenance programmes.
• Promote a zero‑harm safety culture while meeting all regulatory and company standards.
• Manage operational and capital budgets, driving cost optimisation and continuous improvement.
• Develop, mentor and lead multidisciplinary engineering teams and contractors.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience with coal washing and beneficiation plants, including cyclones, drums, crushers, conveyors, screens, pumps and filter presses.
• Extensive open‑pit coal mining experience managing TMM and yellow equipment fleets; underground mining experience is advantageous.
• Strong knowledge of the Mine Health and Safety Act, engineering legal appointments and governance.
• Willingness to relocate to Malelane, Marloth Park or Komatipoort, or to commute weekly.
• Valid driver’s licence.
