Lead BI Developer

About the role

A client of Overberg Personnel is looking for an experienced, analytical and highly technical Lead BI Developer with strong Data Science and Data Analytics capabilities. You will drive the development, optimisation and maintenance of the core Business Intelligence system, taking the lead on data architecture and reporting frameworks for complex corporate projects. The position is full-time, permanent and office-based, Monday to Friday, 08:00 to 17:00.

Key responsibilities

• Build, maintain and scale robust Business Intelligence systems, structures and tools.
• Oversee data warehouse design and implement end-to-end data pipelines using Azure cloud ecosystems.
• Clean, transform, model and analyse large datasets using Python, R and advanced MS SQL/NoSQL.
• Deliver BI reporting and interactive dashboards that turn complex data into actionable business strategy.
• Model data relationships, design ERDs and map integrations using Azure Analysis and Integration Services.

Required profile

• Diploma or degree in Information Systems or a closely related quantitative field.
• 5 to 15 years of hands-on experience as a Senior or Lead Developer in the BI/Data arena.
• Master-level proficiency in Python and R.
• Exceptional skills in MS SQL and NoSQL, solid expertise in data warehouse design, and complete proficiency with Azure Data Lake and Database.
• Strong working knowledge of Azure Analysis and Integration Services and advanced proficiency in the Microsoft 365 suite.
• Deep experience in Power BI or other BI platforms, and familiarity with Power Automate, Microsoft Forms and Microsoft Dataverse.
• Ability to read, interpret and create complex ERDs.
• Must be a South African born citizen with a clean criminal record and a clean credit/ITC record; full vetting is done on applicants.
