Key Account Manager

About the role

Future Careers is looking for an experienced Key Account Manager to join the sales team of a leading South African consumer products company. The role focuses on managing and growing a portfolio of strategic national retail and distribution accounts, building long‑term relationships and driving sustainable sales growth.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain relationships with national buyers, category managers and distribution partners.
• Conduct regular customer meetings, business reviews and strategic planning sessions.
• Identify and secure new product listings and growth opportunities across key retail accounts.
• Create and execute account‑specific growth plans to meet sales and profitability targets.
• Coordinate forecasts, purchase orders, product launches and promotional campaigns.
• Monitor distributor performance, stock availability and resolve customer issues promptly.
• Analyse sales performance, market trends and prepare account reports and business review presentations.

Required profile

• Grade 12 (Matric) qualification; tertiary education in Business, Sales, Marketing or related field is advantageous.
• 3–5 years of experience in Key Account Management within FMCG, consumer goods or retail.
• Proven track record of managing national retail accounts, distributors or franchise groups.
• Strong commercial acumen, negotiation skills and ability to work in a fast‑paced, entrepreneurial environment.
