Buyer – Undergarments & Shapewear

About the role

A leading fashion retailer based in Cape Town is looking for a commercially‑driven Buyer specializing in Undergarments & Shapewear. The role focuses on developing trend‑relevant product ranges that meet customer needs while delivering sales, profitability and market‑share growth.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute seasonal buying and range plans aligned with business objectives.
• Collaborate with Planning, Design and Sourcing teams to create product, fabric and trading strategies that meet commercial KPIs.
• Use trend research, trade data, customer analytics and competitor intelligence to shape product direction.
• Present seasonal plans, highlight must‑win categories and channel‑specific considerations.
• Lead range development workshops to ensure products are on‑brand, trend‑relevant and profitable.
• Work with Design on styling, fabric, colour and price architecture.
• Coordinate product development with Sourcing, including supplier selection, costings and technical packs.
• Oversee sample approvals, final sign‑offs and product reviews with Technical Product Development.
• Align financial targets and assortment plans with Planning across grades and sales channels.
• Integrate customer insights and market research into seasonal range development.

Required profile

• Strong commercial and analytical capability.
• Sound understanding of fashion retail, particularly lingerie and shapewear.
• Ability to translate customer, market and sales insights into buying decisions.
• Excellent collaboration skills with cross‑functional teams (Design, Sourcing, Planning, Marketing).
