Junior Forwarding Controller

About the role

We are seeking a Junior Forwarding Controller to join our logistics team in Durban. In this role you will coordinate international and local shipments, manage essential documentation, and act as a key liaison between clients, carriers, and shipping lines to ensure smooth and cost‑effective movement of goods.

Key responsibilities

• Open and maintain shipment files in the transport management system.
• Book cargo with shipping lines, airlines and road carriers (FCL/LCL) and provide regular milestone updates to clients.
• Prepare, verify and process commercial invoices, HAWBs and customs documents, correcting any errors to avoid delays.
• Ensure all operations comply with statutory and customs regulations.
• Liaise with clients, subcontractors and internal departments, responding promptly to queries and issues.
• Reconcile freight invoices, verify rates and assist in preparing shipment estimates and quotes.

Required profile

• 1–3+ years of experience in export, clearing or freight forwarding.
• Good understanding of forwarding transactions, Incoterms, routing and carrier structures.
• Strong communication abilities and a customer‑service mindset.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with freight forwarding ERP/TMS systems.
