Human Resources Business Practitioner

About the role

The Human Resources Business Practitioner will support the effective management of people, performance, employee relations, recruitment, learning and development, HR compliance and day‑to‑day HR operations across the business. This hands‑on role is suited to a capable HR generalist with around five years of practical experience, operating independently in a fast‑paced consulting environment while supporting the CEO and leadership team on selected people initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Manage end‑to‑end recruitment and onboarding processes.
• Coordinate performance management and employee development initiatives.
• Handle employee relations matters, including grievances, disciplinary processes and investigations.
• Maintain HR data integrity in internal business systems and produce system‑based HR reports.
• Administer HR records, trackers, employee files and reporting requirements.
• Draft, review and maintain HR policies, SOPs, templates and employment documentation.
• Oversee leave management, probation tracking, contract administration and employee lifecycle processes.
• Support compensation and benefits administration, salary benchmarking inputs and payroll liaison.
• Coordinate training administration, learning needs, attendance records and development tracking.
• Assist with Workplace Skills Plan (WSP) and Annual Training Report (ATR) inputs for SETA compliance.
• Support B‑BBEE compliance activities, including skills development reporting and employee equity data management.
• Provide HR support to the CEO and leadership team on workforce planning, role clarity, organisational design, talent discussions and succession planning.

Required profile

• Approximately five years of practical HR generalist experience.
• Ability to work independently in a lean, fast‑paced environment.
• Practical, structured and commercially aware approach.
• Strong judgement, professionalism and ability to bring operational stability to the people function.
