Financial Management Internship – 3 Positions

About the role

The Financial Management Internship is a capacity‑building initiative funded by the National Treasury to strengthen municipal finance capabilities. The three positions are based in Calvinia and offer recent graduates exposure to core financial and supply‑chain functions within Hantam Municipality.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in implementing accepted municipal accounting practices and budgetary reforms.
• Participate in training on financial and supply‑chain management processes.
• Conduct reconciliations and perform financial analysis.
• Collect and process financial data electronically.

Required profile

• Three‑year Bachelor’s degree or National Diploma in Accounting, Economics, Finance, Internal Auditing or Risk Management.
• Computer literacy with proficiency in MS Office applications.
• Fluency in at least two official Northern Cape languages (Afrikaans, English, Xhosa) – speaking, reading and writing.
• Strong attention to detail, responsibility and numeracy skills.
• Good interpersonal and communication abilities, including report writing.
• Basic knowledge of monthly reconciliations and financial & supply‑chain management processes.
