Accountant Billing – Municipal Finance

About the role

The Hantam Local Municipality is seeking an Accountant Billing to manage and verify income transactions, reconcile billing data with the general ledger, and support tariff administration. This position plays a key part in ensuring accurate financial controls within the Billing Section.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate and control verification of income transactions and related information.
• Prepare and monitor daily billing processes, including reconciliation of billed income per tariff analysis with the general ledger.
• Allocate, prioritize, and oversee tasks of personnel involved in billing activities.
• Interact with internal and external auditors, providing documentation and approvals for account receivable adjustments.
• Participate in the municipality’s Performance Management and Development System.

Required profile

• Relevant three‑year tertiary qualification (National Diploma or BCom with Financial Accounting major).
• Minimum 2–5 years of relevant experience in accounting or billing functions.
• Computer literacy and ability to work with municipal financial systems.
• Code EB driver’s licence is an added advantage.
