About the role
The Hantam Municipality is seeking a qualified professional to serve as a member of its Audit Committee for a three‑year term. The role involves providing independent advice to Council on financial oversight, risk management and governance matters.
Key responsibilities
- Review internal audit reports and internal control frameworks.
- Assess accounting policies and ensure compliance with the Municipal Finance Management Act.
- Monitor risk management processes and the adequacy of financial reporting.
- Oversee performance management and effective governance practices.
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and municipal regulations.
- Examine annual financial statements before they are submitted to the Auditor General.
- Provide quarterly reports to Council on audit findings and recommendations.
- Participate in at least four committee meetings per year.
Required profile
- Qualified in at least one of the following areas: Internal Audit, Finance, Human Resources, Law or Information Communications Technology.
- Willingness to commit to a three‑year term on the Audit Committee.
