Event Coordinator

About the role

The Bay Hotel is looking for an Event Coordinator to join its events and food & beverage team. You will support the Events Manager in planning, selling, and delivering a range of events, group bookings and banqueting operations, ensuring high service standards across the hotel.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with product development, budgeting and sales targets for events and groups.
• Act as the first point of contact in the absence of the Events Manager.
• Support food & beverage operations, including dining room setup and service levels.
• Coordinate with service, kitchen and front‑office teams on reservations and special events.
• Prepare reports, maintain records and ensure compliance with health and safety standards.
• Manage relationships with external suppliers and internal teams.
• Provide booking support for hotel facilities and activities.
• Monitor industry trends and recommend improvements.
• Handle guest needs, complaints and requests promptly.
• Schedule staff hours and assist with recruitment, training and performance appraisals.

Required profile

• Grade 12 with a relevant events qualification.
• Diploma or degree in hospitality or project management is advantageous.
• 2–3 years of experience in a similar hospitality or events role.
• Strong communication and organisational abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities with attention to detail.
• Collaborative leader with a guest‑centred service focus.
