About the role
The Engineering Painter is responsible for the repair, maintenance and painting of public areas, guest rooms, back‑of‑house spaces, plant rooms and building exteriors at a Fairmont hotel. Reporting to the Engineering Supervisor, the role ensures high‑quality workmanship and timely response to technical queries.
Key responsibilities
- Perform painting, colour coding, mixing, tinting and timber treatments across all hotel areas.
- Control paint stock, verify deliveries against purchase orders and conduct month‑end stock takes.
- Carry out daily checks on rooms, lighting, signage and painted surfaces, reporting any defects.
- Assist with fault finding, emergency procedures and general maintenance of hotel equipment.
Required profile
- Matric (Grade 12) minimum; related qualification advantageous.
- At least 2 years of experience in a similar hospitality or construction painting role.
- Good knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry and general maintenance.
- Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
Required skills
- Painting techniques, colour coding, mixing, tinting and timber treatments.
- Knowledge of paints, their uses and related products.
- Basic plumbing, electrical, HVAC and carpentry skills.
- Stock control and inventory management for paint supplies.
