Engineering Operator

About the role

The Engineering Operator will report to the Engineering Supervisor and is responsible for the repair, maintenance and installation of public areas, guest rooms, back‑of‑house facilities and plant equipment at the hotel.

Key responsibilities

• Perform repair, maintenance and installation work in accordance with departmental procedures.
• Install and service TVs, PlayStations and other electronic equipment.
• Test electricity, isolate power and maintain pumping stations, water tanks, boilers and related accessories.
• Maintain chillers, freezers, split units, AHU and fan‑coil units.
• Carry out general guest‑room maintenance including plumbing, electrical fixtures, painting and door hardware.
• Complete service requests promptly, safely and accurately while adhering to OHS regulations.

Required profile

• Matric/Grade 12 qualification (higher technical qualification advantageous).
• Minimum 2 years of hands‑on experience in a similar maintenance role.
• Fluent English (additional language an asset) and strong communication skills.
• Flexibility to work varied hours and ability to multitask in a fast‑paced environment.
• Physically fit and able to work at heights, lift, kneel and use tools safely.

Required skills

• TV and PlayStation installation.
• Electrical testing and power isolation.
• Pumping station, water‑tank and boiler maintenance.
• Chiller, freezer, split‑unit, AHU and fan‑coil unit servicing.
• Plumbing repairs (traps, taps, showers) and electrical repairs (lamps, plugs, heated towel rails).
• Preventive maintenance procedures and use of testing equipment.
