Engineering Manager – GCC Certified (Heavy Industry)

About the role

We are seeking a hands‑on Engineering Manager with a valid GCC (Mines & Works) certificate to lead the maintenance function of a high‑stakes heavy‑industry plant. The role combines strategic oversight with day‑to‑day execution, ensuring maximum plant availability while fostering a culture of safety, preventive maintenance and continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and champion preventive and predictive maintenance strategies to maximise uptime.
• Plan, coordinate and execute major plant shutdowns with precision.
• Lead root‑cause analysis (RCA) and implement permanent fixes for recurring failures.
• Embed quality assurance across all maintenance work and installations.
• Manage the maintenance budget, optimise spares inventory and control contractor costs.
• Lead emergency response for breakdowns and oversee recovery actions.
• Report reliability metrics (MTBF, OEE, schedule attainment) to senior leadership.

Required profile

• B.Eng or BTech in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
• Current GCC (Mines & Works) certification.
• Minimum 8 years of maintenance experience in heavy industry.
• At least 5 years in a formal management role.
• Proven ability to lead teams, manage performance and drive results.

Required skills

• Maintenance systems (CMMS) expertise.
• Knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, conveyors, crushers, mills and kilns.
