Employee Relations Specialist

About the role

Icebolethu Group is seeking an Employee Relations Specialist to join its Human Resources Department in Durban. The role supports the Group HR Manager and acts as a bridge between senior management and employees on all HR and employee‑relations matters.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the primary liaison for employee relations issues, including grievances, disciplinary actions, and performance management.
• Provide guidance on company policies, governmental regulations, and ensure compliance across the organisation.
• Draft disciplinary charges, coordinate hearings, and manage end‑to‑end case processes.
• Represent the employer at CCMA conciliations, mediations and arbitrations, preparing all necessary pleadings.
• Develop, implement and communicate HR policies and procedures.
• Prepare and deliver in‑house employee relations training material.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in HRM, Industrial Relations or LLB.
• 3–5 years of experience in insurance, retail, funeral or manufacturing environments.
• People‑management experience with strong communication skills.
• Ability to work independently, meet deadlines and handle pressure.
• Valid driver’s licence and a high level of confidentiality, tact and discretion.
