Electrical Department Manager – Light Aircraft

About the role

We are a well‑established light aircraft company seeking an experienced Electrical Department Manager to lead the end‑to‑end manufacturing and installation of electrical wiring looms for light aircraft. The role combines hands‑on technical work with leadership of a high‑performance team.

Key responsibilities

• Manage all staff within the Electrical Department, ensuring safety, quality, delivery and cost targets are met.
• Partner with Engineering to influence new designs for manufacturability, EMI/EMC compliance, weight and cost.
• Oversee first‑article builds, installations, first‑article inspections and process validation.
• Drive Lean manufacturing, continuous improvement and KPI monitoring (first‑pass yield, OTD, rework rate, labor variance).
• Maintain configuration management, serial‑number traceability and airworthiness documentation throughout the product lifecycle.

Required profile

• Relevant qualification in electrical engineering or avionics, or extensive equivalent experience.
• 5+ years in aircraft wiring harness manufacturing/installation (light aircraft, rotorcraft, UAV or similar) with at least 2 years leading a team.
• Hands‑on expertise with harness build and aircraft installation best practices.
• Proven record of meeting quality and delivery targets in a regulated aerospace environment.
• Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (Avionics) is an advantage.
