Debtors Clerk – Hotel Finance (Cape Town)

About the role

An established hotel in Cape Town is urgently seeking an experienced Debtors Clerk to join its finance team. The role involves managing the hotel’s debtors and accounts receivable processes, including invoicing, payment allocations, reconciliations and credit control.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a monthly debtors book of approximately R6 million to R8 million.
• Process invoices and credit notes accurately and allocate payments to the correct customer accounts.
• Prepare and distribute monthly debtor statements and complete reconciliations and age‑analysis reports.
• Follow up on outstanding accounts across 30‑, 60‑ and 90‑day ageing periods by telephone and email.
• Investigate unidentified payments, resolve billing queries and maintain accurate collection records.
• Liaise with Front Office and other hotel departments regarding billing matters and assist with month‑end reporting and audit preparation.

Required profile

• A relevant financial qualification.
• 3–5 years of experience as a Debtors Clerk or in Accounts Receivable, preferably within a hotel environment.
• Experience managing a debtors book of R6 million to R8 million.
• Strong knowledge of the Opera property system and Front Office administration.
• Good understanding of hotel billing processes and credit‑control procedures.
• Excellent numerical accuracy, attention to detail and ability to work independently under pressure.

• Microsoft Excel, including VLOOKUPs, pivot tables and basic formulas.
