Candidate Engineer - Water

About the role

As a Candidate Engineer – Water you will join AECOM’s Enterprise Capabilities team in South Africa, supporting water and wastewater pipeline design projects. Working under the supervision of experienced engineers, you will contribute to high‑quality design outputs and BIM models while developing your technical expertise.

Key responsibilities

• Develop designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams and BIM models for water and wastewater pipelines.
• Produce and review drawings using ArcGIS, AutoCAD, Civil 3D and Revit.
• Collect and analyse information from interdisciplinary BIM models.
• Coordinate with other discipline engineers to ensure design continuity.
• Participate in design progress and coordination meetings.
• Check model quality produced by BIM/CAD teams for accuracy.
• Attend client meetings to discuss requirements and defend design decisions.

Required profile

• Bachelor or Master of Science in Civil Engineering from an accredited university.
• Registered as a Candidate Engineer with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA).
• 0–2 years of experience in water and wastewater pipeline or network design.
