Azure Cloud Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a motivated Intermediate Azure Cloud Engineer to join our cloud and infrastructure team on a 6‑month renewable contract. Based in Cape Town and working in a hybrid model, you will design, deploy, migrate and maintain solutions on Microsoft Azure, collaborating with senior engineers and solution architects.

Key responsibilities

• Design, provision and manage Azure resources such as VMs, App Services, Data Factory, ADLS, Databricks, AKS, Functions and related services.
• Implement Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and/or ARM/Bicep templates.
• Configure networking components including VNets, NSGs, VPNs and load balancers.
• Set up and optimise storage solutions, Azure SQL and Cosmos DB.
• Implement security and compliance controls with Azure AD, RBAC, PIM, Key Vault, Security Center and Azure Policy.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps and automate tasks with PowerShell, Azure CLI and Python.
• Monitor infrastructure health using Azure Monitor, Log Analytics and Application Insights, and respond to incidents.
• Drive cost‑optimisation through reserved instances, auto‑scaling and right‑sizing.

Required profile

• 3–5 years of hands‑on cloud engineering experience.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Azure services and architecture.
• Experience with IaC tools, preferably Terraform.
• Proficiency in scripting with PowerShell, Bash or Python.
• Experience building CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps.
