AV Pre‑Sales Engineer

About the role

We are seeking an AV Pre‑Sales Engineer to join our client’s team in South Africa. In this consultative position you will translate partner briefs into clear technical specifications, room designs and confident proposals, bridging the gap between technical design and commercial discussion.

Key responsibilities

• Scope AV requirements directly with partners via calls, site visits and email, converting loose briefs into precise technical specifications.
• Design room layouts and system architecture for meeting rooms, boardrooms and collaboration spaces, including Teams Rooms, Zoom Rooms, BYOD and bespoke builds.
• Produce accurate, well‑structured proposals and quotes covering device selection, signal flow and indicative pricing.
• Present and defend designs to partners, answer technical questions and adjust scope in real time.
• Collaborate closely with design, delivery and sales teams to ensure smooth hand‑off of qualified opportunities.
• Stay up‑to‑date on AV/UC hardware, standards and emerging collaboration technologies.

Required profile

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; able to discuss technical details with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
• Research‑oriented and curious, comfortable digging into new hardware, standards and partner requirements.
• Enjoys frequent conversations with partners and thrives on live technical discussions.
• Solid grounding in AV systems design, including displays, audio, DSP, video‑conferencing platforms and control systems.
• Proficient in reading and producing design documentation such as schematics, GA drawings and elevations.
• Capable of delivering workable technical solutions under time pressure.
• CTS or CTS‑D certification is a strong plus, though not mandatory.
