Authorization Officer – Work Order Authorisation

About the role

The Authorization Officer is responsible for assessing work requirements and quotations, making informed decisions on authorising work orders for scheduled maintenance, breakdowns, and accident repairs. This role ensures cost‑saving initiatives are applied while maintaining service delivery and meeting customer contract obligations.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the primary contact for suppliers seeking authorisation of work orders, delivering timely decisions and exceptional service.
• Address supplier and regional operation queries, complaints, and incidents within SLA timelines.
• Support the technical call centre by validating breakdown or accident requirements and allocating work to appropriate suppliers.
• Review OEM warranty policies to determine coverage and verify the validity, accuracy, and fairness of supplier quotations.
• Authorise or decline quotations within set authority limits, driving cost‑saving initiatives and negotiating better labour and parts rates.
• Maintain accurate records of all supplier quotations and correspondence in the designated system.

Required profile

• Matric or equivalent technical qualification.
• Qualified Motor Technician.
• Minimum 3 years experience as a qualified motor technician, preferably in the fleet industry.
• Experience maintaining and working with commercial vehicles.

• Computer literacy for quotation analysis and record keeping.
