Associate Engineer - Structures

About the role

AECOM is looking for an Associate Engineer – Structures to join its Enterprise Capabilities office in Centurion, South Africa. The role supports both local and global project teams, offering a flexible hybrid work arrangement. You will act as a senior technical advisor, delivering high‑quality design outputs and leading multidisciplinary structural projects.

Key responsibilities

• Lead project teams of junior to senior structural staff, providing mentorship and direction.
• Conduct design and drawing reviews to ensure accurate translation from concept to detailed BIM models.
• Manage structural engineering resources, schedules, and budgets while coordinating with other disciplines.
• Support business development by contributing technical expertise to bids, proposals, and market intelligence.
• Champion digital transformation initiatives, ensuring the use of BIM tools such as Autodesk Revit.

Required profile

• Degree in Civil Engineering (Structural) – preferably M.Eng or MSc.
• Minimum 12 years of post‑qualification experience and at least 6 years of ECSA registration as Pr.Eng.
• Proven ability to build trusted client relationships and influence major project decisions.
• Strong collaborative and communication skills, both internally and with external stakeholders.
