Assistant Manager Tracking

About the role

The Assistant Manager – Tracking will oversee container movement monitoring and data integrity across MSC’s Durban depot. You will ensure accurate tracking, support system adoption and collaborate with multiple internal teams to maintain high‑quality operational data.

Key responsibilities

• Capture container movements accurately and timely.
• Monitor container status, dwell times and validate tracking accuracy across systems.
• Ensure correct usage of tracking systems (OVD/OVA) across depots and support issue resolution.
• Reconcile data between systems, identify discrepancies and generate KPI reports.
• Assist depot teams with tracking queries and improve operational processes in line with SOPs.
• Liaise with depot, IT and shipping teams, communicating tracking issues and providing performance feedback.
• Support training of tracking clerks and ensure compliance with ISO and SOP requirements.
• Assist with audits and other compliance activities.

Required profile

• Education: Grade 12 / Matric; logistics or supply‑chain qualification advantageous.
• 3–5 years experience in container/depot operations with exposure to tracking systems.
• Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.
• Excellent communication skills and accountability.
• Willingness to work extended hours and solid understanding of depot operations.
