About the role
This position supports the engineering team at Maidstone Mill by preparing and maintaining machinery for production. The role is part of a casual pool, offering flexible work while ensuring equipment is ready and safe for use.
Key responsibilities
- Strip and clean machinery, identifying any damaged parts to aid production efficiency.
- Provide tools requested by artisans and foremen, ensuring timely task completion.
- Maintain tool condition using the tool sheet and perform regular checks.
- Follow lawful instructions from artisans or foremen.
- Carry out general housekeeping to keep the work area clean and safe.
- Enforce compliance with safety standards, including ISO, SHE and HACCP.
Required profile
- Matric (N2) qualification is an advantage.
- At least 1 year of experience in an engineering environment is preferred.
- Honest, hard‑working, with verifiable references.
- Ability to work well within a team.
Required skills
- Machinery stripping and cleaning.
- Tool handling and inventory management.
- Use of tool sheets for condition checks.
- Knowledge of safety compliance (ISO, SHE, HACCP).
