About the role
The Laboratory Coordinator will lead the day‑to‑day activities of the laboratory at Voermol Feeds, ensuring that sampling, testing, and reporting are performed to the highest quality and safety standards. Reporting to the Technical Manager, the role bridges product development, production, and quality assurance.
Key responsibilities
- Collaborate with Technical Managers to set priorities, develop procedures and manage activity programming.
- Implement ISO‑aligned and safety‑compliant procedures for sampling, testing, reporting and communication of laboratory results.
- Conduct audits of work procedures using planned observation methods to verify conformance.
- Support recruitment by advising on job ads, participating in interviews and recommending candidates.
- Monitor quality standards for raw‑material and production‑sample analysis.
- Oversee instrument calibration schedule and verify accuracy of calibrated equipment.
- Log and track incoming claims and special samples for investigation.
- Manage preparation and dispatch of samples for external analysis.
- Execute analytical tasks for product‑development research, including sampling, mixing and testing of trial products.
- Apply wet‑chemistry methods to specialised analyses of claim and special samples.
- Assist Production and Product Movement Controller with SAP‑based quality issue resolution.
- Provide problem‑solving support to Laboratory Technicians during analyses.
- Participate in SHEQ, Quality Review and departmental meetings, presenting findings and reports.
- Respond to queries on tests, procedures and regulations.
- Supervise laboratory staff, manage stock levels, orders and the laboratory budget.
Required profile
- National Diploma or Degree in Natural Sciences.
- Minimum five years’ supervisory experience in an analytical chemistry laboratory.
- Proficient computer literacy and a valid Code EB driver’s licence.
- High ethical standards, professional maturity and strong teamwork orientation.
- Proactive, detail‑oriented with excellent communication skills.
Required skills
- Wet‑chemistry analytical techniques.
- Experience with SAP for quality issue tracking.
- Knowledge of ISO standards and safety regulations for laboratory work.
