CBM Technician – Sugar Milling Plant

About the role

The CBM Technician will monitor and maintain equipment at a sugar milling and processing plant. The role involves using condition‑based monitoring tools to ensure reliable operation of rotating machinery and supporting the plant’s maintenance team.

Key responsibilities

• Operate vibration meters and computerized vibration data collectors to record equipment condition.
• Use thermography cameras and interpret thermal images for early fault detection.
• Conduct sound and oil analysis, collect oil and grease samples, and interpret the results.
• Balance fans, rotors and other rotating equipment on site.
• Perform laser alignment on machinery.
• Identify lubrication system issues such as leaks or colour changes.
• Prepare and present action notes and reports on findings.
• Comply with SHE policies and site procedures.

Required profile

• Grade 12 with a relevant tertiary qualification.
• At least three years of experience in condition‑based maintenance or related service delivery.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Proficient in spoken and written English.
• Effective communicator, self‑motivated and able to work under pressure.

• Vibration analysis using handheld meters and data collectors.
