Architectural Council Submission Specialist

About the role

SKG Properties is looking for a meticulous Architectural Council Submission Specialist to manage the preparation and submission of construction documents to local municipalities in South Africa. The role focuses exclusively on converting approved designs into compliant, submission‑ready packages and guiding them through the approval process.

Key responsibilities

• Transform design concepts into detailed working drawings, site plans, elevations and sections formatted for council submission.
• Check all drawings against town planning schemes, zoning laws, building regulations (e.g., SANS 10400), title deeds and land‑use restrictions.
• Compile required submission components such as application forms, zoning certificates, SG diagrams, engineer‑signed certificates and energy efficiency calculations.
• Submit applications manually or digitally via municipal portals and monitor progress across departments (Town Planning, Fire, Health, Water, Sanitation).
• Serve as the primary contact for council examiners, respond to queries, amend drawings and resolve bottlenecks to achieve final approval.
• Coordinate with external consultants (civil/structural engineers, town planners, land surveyors) to ensure alignment of all documentation.

Required profile

• Degree or Diploma in Architecture or Architectural Technology.
• Active registration with the relevant professional body (e.g., SACAP) allowing plan sign‑off.
• 3–5 years of dedicated experience with municipal council submissions and approvals.
• Exceptional patience, strong negotiation and communication abilities, meticulous attention to detail and solid problem‑solving skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency in CAD/BIM software: Revit, AutoCAD, ArchiCAD.
