Accounting Manager – Business Support Assistant Manager (Cape Town)

About the role

A prominent international professional services firm is building a new Cape Town team and needs a Business Support Assistant Manager to lead the delivery of statutory accounts. Reporting directly to the partners, you will own the operational side of a high‑volume corporate client portfolio and supervise a growing junior production team.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a high‑volume portfolio of medium and large corporate clients, ensuring seamless service delivery.
• Plan, control, supervise and review statutory accounts prepared by junior team members.
• Prepare and review complex consolidation workings to support group accounts.
• Deliver statutory accounts in strict accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
• Report operational performance, portfolio status and technical outputs directly to international partners and directors.
• Guide, mentor and up‑skill junior staff on accounting procedures and technical reporting systems.

Required profile

• Qualified CA(SA), AGA(SA) or Professional Accountant (SA).
• 6–10 years of experience within an accountancy practice.
• Proven track record of planning, supervising and reviewing junior team work.
• Extensive experience managing a high‑volume client portfolio of medium and large corporate entities.
• Practical experience preparing and reviewing complex consolidation workings.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS; exposure to UK GAAP is advantageous.

Required skills

• Technical proficiency in Xero.
• Technical proficiency in Caseware.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.

What we offer

• Salary range R700,000 – R900,000 per year.
• Additional benefits on top of the base salary.
