Accountant – Insurance (Cape Town)

About the role

Our client, a leading insurance and financial services provider in Cape Town, is seeking a newly qualified Chartered Accountant (CA(SA)) to join their finance team. The role offers exposure to complex financial and regulatory reporting, including IFRS 17 implementation, within a dynamic, hybrid work environment.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare financial statements and supporting schedules in line with IFRS and IFRS 17.
• Perform tie‑outs, reconciliations and detailed review procedures to ensure reporting accuracy.
• Assist with monthly, quarterly and annual reporting cycles and consolidate reporting packages.
• Coordinate information requests and deliverables for external auditors.
• Maintain and enhance Workiva reporting files and support process‑improvement initiatives.
• Collaborate with finance teams across the organisation to ensure completeness and accuracy of reports.
• Document reporting processes, controls and governance procedures.

Required profile

• Newly qualified CA(SA) with insurance industry experience.
• Strong working knowledge of IFRS, including IFRS 17.
• Experience preparing financial statements and consolidation processes.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.
