2x Financial Accountant - Commitments and Contracts Management (C2)

About the role

Johannesburg Development Agency (JDA) is recruiting two Financial Accountants for the Commitments and Contracts Management (C2) function. The purpose of the position is to coordinate the recording, authorisation, execution and reporting of expenditure transactions so that they comply with the required legislation and are processed accurately and on time. The contract is fixed term for 24 months with a renewable option; the salary scale is R 411 809.00 to R 617 713.00 including benefits.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain the commitment register by updating it daily with new contractual obligations, purchase orders and funds commitments.
• Reconcile the register with actual expenditures, invoices received (accruals) and project approval schedules.
• Assist in preparing disclosure notes for annual financial statements relating to capital and operational commitments.
• Ensure commitments comply with the municipality's Supply Chain Management (SCM) policy, MFMA and GRAP requirements.
• Prepare documentation and samples for internal and external audits and implement audit findings.
• Track contract lifecycles, renewal dates and expiry notifications for significant contracts.

Required profile

• Matric (Grade 12) and minimum NQF level 7 qualification in BCom Accounting Sciences or another relevant qualification.
• At least 3 to 5 years of experience in contract management, accounting, auditing, financial management services or commitment register advisory services.
• Professional registration with SICA, CIMA, SAIBA or APC/APT certification is advantageous.
• Candidates with pre- or post-articles experience will be eligible for consideration.

Required skills

• Proficiency with SAP or Sage is advantageous.
