Transport Controller

About the role

The Transport Controller will coordinate daily transport operations for SA Metal, ensuring efficient driver dispatch, fleet compliance, and high‑level customer service across Gauteng.

Key responsibilities

• Manage day‑to‑day transport service requirements and driver dispatch.
• Debrief drivers and maintain daily tracking reports.
• Serve as the first point of contact for drivers and resolve issues.
• Ensure fleet roadworthiness, branding, and cleanliness.
• Oversee driver adherence to procedures and liaise with management on driver matters.
• Enforce Occupational Health and Safety standards.
• Capture, distribute, and follow up on incident, fault, and breakdown reports.
• Complete accessory forms, conduct monthly audits, and submit daily check sheets.
• Book medical and HR appointments for drivers and issue PPE.
• Conduct regular truck and equipment audits.

Required profile

• Grade 12 or equivalent.
• 3‑5 years of fleet controlling experience.
• Leadership ability and ability to work independently and in a team.
• Knowledge of Gauteng geography; multiple African languages a plus.
• Transport Management qualification or related training is advantageous.
