Tax Compliance Officer – Cape Town

About the role

C2M Chartered Accountants Inc is looking for a Tax Compliance Officer to join its Cape Town office. The successful candidate will manage a broad range of tax compliance matters for individuals, companies, trusts and exempt institutions, ensuring accurate filings and timely communication with SARS.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and submit tax information request letters and gather required data from clients.
• Complete and lodge various tax returns, including IT12 individual returns, company returns, trust returns and exempt institution returns.
• Calculate, prepare and submit IRP6 provisional tax returns for all relevant periods.
• Handle tax payments, tax clearance applications, tax directives and follow‑up on refunds and assessments.
• Maintain client tax records in SARS eFiling, update status during onboarding and manage changes such as year‑end conversions or name changes.
• Resolve queries from SARS and clients, attend meetings with SARS practitioner units, and prepare correspondence on tax deadlines.
• Prepare EMP501 reconciliations, IRP5/IT3(a) certificates and payroll schedules.
• Assist the audit department with tax information and provide training to junior staff.

Required profile

• Detail‑oriented tax professional with strong client service orientation.
• Ability to work accurately under tight deadlines.
• Good knowledge of South African tax legislation and SARS processes.
• Experience handling tax compliance for individuals, companies, trusts and exempt institutions.
