Staff Nurse, Cardiac ITU (Band 5)

About the role

The Cardiac ITU team is seeking a Band 5 Staff Nurse to provide immediate post‑operative care for patients following cardiac surgery. This full‑time position offers the chance to develop critical care expertise within a supportive NHS environment.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver high‑quality nursing care to cardiac surgery patients in the intensive therapy unit.
• Monitor patients’ vital signs, manage medication administration, and respond promptly to clinical changes.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless patient care and recovery.
• Maintain accurate patient records and adhere to NHS clinical governance standards.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse with broad acute NHS nursing experience post‑registration.
• Strong communication, teamwork and interpersonal abilities.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure and learn quickly.
• Commitment to ongoing professional development; CPD experience is advantageous.

Required skills

• Proficiency in standard NHS nursing procedures and documentation.
