Service Technician – Grassridge Wind Farm

About the role

Vestas is seeking a motivated Service Technician to join its team at the Grassridge Wind Farm, based at Noblesfontein near Victoria West, South Africa. The role involves on‑site maintenance and installation tasks on V100 Mk 7 turbines, supporting safe and reliable operation of the wind farm.

Key responsibilities

• Follow all safety standards, act as a safety role model and intervene when unsafe acts occur.
• Identify safety gaps, implement risk mitigation measures and provide recommendations to senior staff.
• Perform intermediate‑level wind turbine maintenance and installation tasks, using specialized calibration, hydraulic and power tools.
• Document work activities and enter data into SAP.
• Gather turbine performance information, diagnose routine issues and recommend solutions.
• Use diagnostic equipment such as Fluke meters and hydraulic pressure gauges.
• Mentor lower‑level technical staff and promote a positive team environment.
• Interface with customers, respond to inquiries and refer complex issues to senior engineers.

Required profile

• Electrical or mechanical background with a strong interest in renewable energy.
• Commitment to safety, integrity and quality in all tasks.
• Ability to work independently, follow structured problem‑solving processes and seek assistance when needed.
• Team‑oriented mindset with good communication skills.

Required skills

• Operation of specialized calibration tools.
• Use of hydraulic tools and power tools.
• Basic turbine equipment handling.
• Proficiency with SAP for data entry.
