Senior Electrical Designer – Resources & Industry

About the role

Senior Designer – Electrical (Resources + Industry) will join AECOM’s Enterprise Capabilities team in Centurion, supporting mining and industrial projects across South Africa and globally. The role offers a flexible hybrid work arrangement and collaborates with regional engineers, designers and project managers.

Key responsibilities

• Produce and coordinate detailed electrical designs, layout drawings, models and documentation.
• Perform advanced electrical design and drafting using AutoCAD, MicroStation, ProjectWise and BIM Forma.
• Develop concept and detailed designs for mine services, material handling, transport, water, fuel facilities and industrial plants.
• Coordinate electrical designs with mechanical, structural, civil, process and control disciplines.
• Participate in model reviews, design reviews and clash resolution activities.
• Manage drawing registers, design deliverables and document workflows.
• Conduct quality reviews of own work and mentor junior designers.

Required profile

• Ability to work independently on complex electrical design tasks.
• Strong self‑checking and document control discipline.
• Clear communicator able to collaborate across countries and cultures.
• Organised, able to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Proactive, solutions‑focused and able to raise design concerns early.
• Experience supporting international engineering projects, preferably with Australian standards.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.
• Experience with ProjectWise and digital delivery workflows.
• Knowledge of BIM coordination and multidisciplinary model review.
• 8+ years of electrical design and drafting experience in mining, resources or industrial sectors.
