Senior AWS Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a Senior AWS Engineer to join our cloud operations team. The role focuses on day‑to‑day health, monitoring, and optimisation of our AWS estate, acting as the bridge between L1 triage and L3 architectural work.

Key responsibilities

• Provision, modify and de‑commission AWS resources (EC2, RDS, S3, VPCs) following change‑management policies.
• Enforce tagging strategies, maintain inventory documentation and ensure cost‑allocation visibility.
• Execute patch management for Linux and Windows systems using AWS Systems Manager.
• Monitor backup policies, perform mock restores and validate disaster‑recovery readiness.
• Conduct daily health checks, identify orphaned or under‑utilised resources.
• Respond to alerts via CloudWatch, Datadog, New Relic or PagerDuty, triage incidents and resolve L2‑level issues.
• Manage IAM permissions, cross‑account access, and enforce security guardrails using Security Hub, GuardDuty and Config.
• Track and renew SSL/TLS certificates with AWS Certificate Manager.

Required profile

• 3+ years of IT operations or system administration experience.
• At least 1.5–2 years managing AWS environments.
• Strong understanding of cloud governance, cost optimisation and security baselines.
