SAP & Enterprise Applications Manager

About the role

An established business in a 24/7 logistics and supply chain environment is looking for an experienced SAP & Enterprise Applications Manager in Johannesburg. The role leads a complex SAP and enterprise applications landscape, keeps critical systems secure and reliable and prepares the business for its next phase of technology transformation, including SAP S/4HANA readiness, clean-core adoption and application modernisation. It combines hands-on technical understanding with strategic planning, architecture oversight, vendor management and operational accountability.

Key responsibilities

• Lead governance and continuous improvement of SAP platforms, enterprise applications, integrations and middleware, and develop technology roadmaps covering upgrades, modernisation and lifecycle management.
• Drive SAP best practices, standardisation and clean-core principles, and support S/4HANA transformation planning, assessments and migration readiness.
• Oversee architecture reviews, custom-code governance, ABAP standards and evaluation of new technologies.
• Manage enterprise integration architecture, middleware platforms (SAP PO, SAP Data Services) and the future adoption of SAP BTP Cloud Integration, including RPA providers and data security.
• Ensure 24/7 operation of business-critical applications, oversee SAP Basis, system administration, technical support and outsourced managed services, and manage incidents, problems, changes and releases.
• Coordinate upgrades, patching and maintenance, support disaster recovery and business continuity, and ensure information security controls, risk management and audit compliance.
• Lead and develop SAP, integration, development and support teams, manage third-party partners and service providers, work with IT leadership and business stakeholders, and oversee Agile delivery, quality and release management.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree, advanced diploma or equivalent in IT, computer science, information systems or a related field.
• Minimum 8-10 years' experience managing SAP and enterprise technology environments.
• Proven experience leading technical teams, SAP specialists, developers and external service providers.
• Exposure to SAP S/4HANA migration, implementation or transformation, and experience with SAP Basis, architecture governance and application lifecycle management.
• Strong vendor management, budgeting, contract management and commercial negotiation experience.
• Experience in complex enterprise, logistics, distribution or supply chain environments is particularly valuable.

The position is permanent and onsite, with a stated salary of R1.1m - R1.2m per annum CTC.
