Mechanical Engineer - Data Centre

About the role

AECOM, a global infrastructure consulting firm, is recruiting a full-time Mechanical Engineer for its data centre projects in Centurion. The engineer develops designs, prepares technical documentation and reports, and works independently with little supervision.

Key responsibilities

• Develop concept and detailed designs, and prepare technical documentation and reports
• Interface designs with civil, structural and architectural disciplines, and use international and local design standards and codes of practice
• Interface with mechanical equipment suppliers and liaise with clients and other consultants
• Carry out quality assurance (factory and site) and safety and environment checks
• Gather and correlate engineering data, and perform detailed or routine engineering calculations and simple tests
• Propose approaches to new problems, identify discrepancies in results, and guide entry-level engineers
• Complete primary design elements within the agreed budget and schedule with little supervision

Required profile

• BEng / BTech in Mechanical Engineering, registered with ECSA as a candidate
• Minimum 4 years' experience in a consulting engineering environment
• Developmental experience in a professional position
• Independent, deadline-oriented, committed and driven, able to lead and support a professional team
